St. Patty's Dessert

We always go all out for St. Patty's Day, but probably not this year. : ( My mom works, and my sister will be in New York. But I still plan on celebrating!  The kids have their adorable shirts and accessories, I will be making Saige's tulle tutu later. Now, for the food. I think my mom is making a Guinness stew with potatoes. I have instructed my sister to drop off the soda bread before she goes to NY, she makes the yummiest! So I was thinking, what can I make for dessert? I always make cupcakes or cakes, I want something different! So far I am really liking this:
They are really easy pretzels made out of refrigerated dough and cinnamon, with colored sugar crystals on top. I think the kids will love them, but I fear they are too similar or too bready like the soda bread.

So, then I found this:

It is basically a shamrock shake, like McDonald's has.  Oh man, I love them! And if I make them myself I can use fat free ice cream and skim milk when making mine! I could actually have one!! But this is more a drink not a dessert.

So then I found these:

They are  grasshopper parfaits. Chocolate pudding, with finely chopped oreos,  mint patties, and whipped cream? I think these may be a winner for the kids!! Boy they look good! But I will be good! I can't wait to celebrate St. Patty's Day!! Are you celebrating? What will be on your table?

I really just want to vent!

I know some bloggers who have themes for everything, or their blog is specifically about arts and crafts, or cooking, or saving money. That is NOT me and never will be. This is MY blog, so I am going to talk about everything and anything. It may be a bit scattered sometimes, but that is me too! This is a place for me to talk about whatever I want, if you don't like it, then don't read it. : )

So lately I have things weighing on my mind. I hate when things bother me. Because I am a thinker, I will think and think about it. And it will just make me more upset. What you say am I talking about? Family. Why are they the cause of all my stress? I am sure there are people out  there who feel the same way, in fact probably a lot of people. I just don't understand people. How is it "family" can tell me how much they love my kids over and over again, yet not make time for them? How can we go months without seeing one another? My kids mean so much to you, yet you never make time to see them! You barely know them! And that is the truly sad part, because these kids are amazing! I have talked about it before, and I feel like I am wasting my breath here as well, but hey...my blog, my vent, It really isn't about you anymore, just me getting my frustrations out. How do I tell my kids oh well, they are not going to be in your life anymore...that you would rather hang out with friends and other people, but not my perfect, beautiful kids? It sickens me!

While I'm off on my rant, why also do women have children, if they drop them with someone every weekend so they can go out and party? Does partying really mean more to you than spending time with your children? I hate hearing the excuse "oh well, she's young." NOT a valid excuse! Grow up! Being a mom is a full time commitment, not just when you have nothing else going on. Or when you want a trophy child on your arm.  All women who have children should be dedicated to them! They truly are the greatest gifts! It stinks that just anyone can have them, because most people don't deserve them! Now I am not saying you have to sit at home and only be with your kids. It is perfectly fine to go out once in awhile, have a girls night out or whatever, but all the time, not okay! I struggle sometimes because my kids are my world, and I never have any me time. And then I feel guilty for wanting me time. But I know I do a good job as a sahm mom, and it is okay to want some quiet time. My me time I want, is not to go out drinking or partying, but to have a nice hot bath, or read a book. Even a nice walk. I just need to de-stress, not get away from my kids.

I am just aggravated today. Probably more so than usual with these things weighing on me. Maybe my diet and lack of food are making me bitchy, lol. Sorry for the ranting, and hope I didn't offend anyone, although if I did you are probably "one of those women" so I don't care if I offended you!  bahahahaha!

Maybe it's time to make some cuts out of our lives. I don't want people in my kids lives who are not going to be a constant part of their lives. I don't want people flitting in and out of their lives. Either make the effort and want to be there, or get the hell out already! And all the women out there who would rather go out then spend time with their kids, GROW UP! They deserve so much more! And while I am still on my high horse, put some clothes on too! What is it with these moms and their slutty outfits? And some of the pictures I have seen them take of themselves on facebook, omg! You deserve a mom of the year award! How are you going to feel if your kids ever see these pics? Or if your daughter grows up and takes pictures like that? YOU are role models for your children, ACT LIKE IT!!!

Okay, time to get down, even I am sick of hearing me bitch! Sorry everyone! I try to be a nice, good person, and NOT talk trash. But it got the best of me today.

Tuesday Weigh-In

Okay, first I want to say it stinks I have not been able to get on until now. I wish I had more time, or a husband who didn't always work. But oh well, it is what it is. So now...time for my weigh in... I LOST ANOTHER 3.4 POUNDS! WOOO! So excited! My total loss is now 7.4 lbs! I once again thought I wasn't going to lose, and was shocked to see the scale! Now I didn't think I wasn't going to lose because I was bad, but the opposite. I know not eating enough can put you into starvation mode, and you won't lose. And this past Saturday I  was running around, and did not eat enough. I thought I messed things up with that one day, but nope.

Now I am really motivated for the warm weather! I am losing weight, but definitely need to exercise now!( tone that flab!)   I cannot wait!
 Later peeps.

It really IS a lifestyle change!

So, the past week I have been "dieting".  I decided, I need to be, not skinny, but not fat! lol. So I decided I was going to start doing Weight Watchers again. I started last Monday, but then had a funeral to attend, and it was a sad event, so I ate the chocolate cake at the luncheon afterwards. I then decided Tuesday I would full on start this! And it has been a week, and today was weigh in day. I LOST 4 POUNDS! I am so stoked! I really thought I hadn't lost anything, even though I have been SUPER good!

A little back story here. I was also super skinny. I was one of those girls, who could just eat whatever, and it didn't catch up to me. That is, until I hit about 28. I gained some weight, okay, a lot, because I had been 122, but I was still in the healthy weight range for my height. The top of it, but whatever! So when I got pregnant with Shane, I did weigh the most I ever had. With his pregnancy I gained 26 pounds, not too bad! After I had him I immediately lost 23! Well, when I stopped pumping my breast milk, I gained it ALL back! And could not get it off, not that I really tried to hard to be honest with you.

That is when I was at my absolute heaviest. I finally got fed up with it, and joined Weight Watchers. It took me about 5 months, and I lost 40 pounds! I felt great, was eating healthy, and going out for daily walks! I didn't do any crazy, hard exercise. Well, then I hit a plateau, I wasn't losing anymore, and felt so frustrated, so I stopped. Oh, I was going to daily meetings, and I felt they REALLY helped! Well, once I stopped going, within 5 months or so 13 pounds crept back on. I then got pregnant with Saige. It was crazy, because I weighed the exact amount I had when I got prego with Shane. It was still in my healthy weight range. With Saige's pregnancy I only gained 23 pounds, but I felt like a moose! Especially with the 5 weeks of bedrest.  After I had her I lost 13 pounds. I thought with the breastfeeding, I would lose, but oh no, not me! I gained the 13 pounds back! I was always soo hungry! And ate everything!!So, now I was back to my pregnant weight! Not cool!

So, Saige is almost 18 months, and it is way past time for me to lose the weight. I think Shane was about the same age when I got fed up too. There is only so long I can take being overweight and not being comfortable in my own skin! I want clothes to fit again! And look good in a pair of jeans, without my muffin top hanging over! Did I mention I had 2 c-sections? You ladies who have had one know about the shelf. It's gross. I think my biggest issues are the belly fat and my thighs. I'd like to lose 2 chins as well. But, it's not just about looking good, but feeling good. And most of all being healthy for my kids!

Okay, so I have started doing Weight Watchers again. Not going to meetings, I can't afford it right now. But I know how to do it from before. I have my points calculator, and I'm doing it! But I realize, they always tell you at WW, it is NOT a diet, but a lifestyle change! And this is SO true! I can't just lose the weight and then go back to eating junk! This has to be the way I eat from now on! And that doesn't mean I can't ever indulge. You are allotted extra points for the week. You can use a few each day if you want, or use up some on a piece of birthday cake at your kids party. If there is a special occasion, I plan on allowing myself some leeway. But I will by no means be putting that stuff in my body on a daily basis!

I am now excited about spring. I used to get up early in the mornings and go for these 2-3 mile power walks. Just me and my ipod. It was a great time to just walk and think, and have a little bit of peace and quiet to myself. I love the trail by our house. And this spring I plan on stealing my mom's bike and giving that a go as well. Oh man, I have not been on a bike in ages! This should be amusing! Especially seeing me walking the next day! lol.

I figure since I can't go to meetings, and weigh in, I can be accountable here. Every Tuesday I hope to be able to post results here! And I know I have said in the past I need to get on here more often, and haven't, but that needs to change as well.

I don't want to be wordless today!

It is suppose to be Wordless Wednesday, but I have once again not been around for awhile. I really thought I would have more time to do this, but it has not worked out that way yet. I need to start posting a blog every Monday, my husband's one day off a week. At least then I am posting once a week. Better than nothing!

So, I want to share a funny Shane story. And it made me realize, I need to lose the last 23 pounds of baby weight! The baby is 17 months now, it is WAY past time!

Shane: Daddy can you cut me up some butter to eat?
Dale: No, that is how you get fat.
Shane: Is that why Poppy is fat?
Dale: No, Poppy just has a fat belly from drinking beer.
Shane: Does Mommy drink a lot of beer?

Oh, the things that kid says! For the record, my dad does NOT drink a lot of beer, and he really isn't fat, but does have a belly. Lol. Obviously though, I do too!  I am not gonna make promises about losing weight right now though. I know it just wouldn't work for me, being cooped up in the house. I want the spring, and to be outside. I have a plan when it's warmer, but I will share that when the time comes. For now, I will just deal with my sons comments. He can also be a sweetie. He told me how good my hair looked the other day when I actually took the time to do it!
